กีฬาวอลเลย์บอล (Volleyball) นั้น ถือกำเนิดขึ้นตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ.1895 (พ.ศ.2438) โดย นายวิลเลียม จี. มอร์แกน (William G. Morgan) ผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายพลศึกษาของสมาคม Y.M.C.A. (Young Men's Christian Association) ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ที่ต้องการมีกีฬาสำหรับเล่นในช่วงฤดูหนาวแทนกีฬากลางแจ้ง เพื่อออกกำลังกายและพักผ่อนหย่อนใจยามหิมะตก

สนามแข่งขัน
